At our June 2008 awards dinner, Illini Great Dane Club awarded Donna Snider and I the Outstanding Service Award (I still get "misty" when I look at it). Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

March, 2008
Donna Snider received the news - we won the AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day Award and $1000 for our Club Illini Great Dane Club - I was overwhelmed!

July, 2007
I, along with Donna Snider (then President of Illini) put on the first ever Pet Fair (along with our annual puppy match. We had an array of venders, rescue organizations, canine good citizen, demonstrations by police dog, obedience, etc.
On the fun side we had costume competition (had to be beach wear, as that was the theme) and a small agility course setup - all except our match and sweeps were open to the public, and all breeds, purebred or mixed, were welcome.

My vet sent one of his colleagues to do cardio checks and microchips at a nominal fee. My friend's rallied around us - so I'll use this forum to thank special friends:

• Sue Jedynak - who, with Anita Dunne, traveled from above Flint, Mi. (5.5 hours) to judge the sweepstakes.
• Steve Boggy - came from outside of Champaign, IL, to judge the match. His friend (and mine), Todd Benting, was there to lend a hand, where needed.
• Neal Glaser and his terrific gal Karen Simmons were there - Neal judged the "fun catagories" and Karen helped EVERYWHERE
• Lisa Dial - took time out from her very busy grooming shop to do nail trims. All proceeds were donated to canine charities: Illinois Vest-A-Dog awarded a bullet-proof vest to a police dog - I could go on and on - if I forot anyone please forgive me.

I had the honor to judge the Chicagoland Samoyed Club Sweepstakes. It was a wonderful experience. The entry was 29 Beautiful Samoyeds.
The picture is of my Best in Sweepstakes - he was a very sound moving dog from Canada (a lovely example of the breed). I stayed after judging to watch the Specialty Show judging - I was thrilled when my choice for Best in Sweepstakes went Winners Dog for a 4pt. major from the 6 to 9 month puppy dog class.
